The electoral campaign comes to life with the most classic of battles, that of the posters. It was inaugurated with the first posters by Antonio Gengaro, candidate for mayor of the centre-left, but the response from the outgoing administration was immediate. Gianluca Festa’s civic squadron waited for the first day of the Municipality’s administration to begin. In fact, yesterday morning the 6×3 posters signed by the outgoing administration appeared. “Avellino is”, this is the leitmotif chosen for the June elections by the Festi group. Taking up the claim used for five years in institutional communication which described the city as “enjoy”, another motto made in the Festa house, the posters evidently claim what are, in the opinion of outgoing councilors and councillors, the results achieved.

“Avellino is” alive, sustainable, university, events, livable, cared for. Long gone, at least for the moment, are the days of the 2019 billboards that featured Festa’s smiling face. At the moment, in fact, it is not yet clear whether he will lead the outgoing majority coalition again. Festa himself, in announcing his resignation from the position of mayor, had stopped speaking in the first person while ensuring that the administrative experience he led would be subjected to the judgment of the voters for the second time. While waiting to understand who will play the role of team leader, the baton will most likely pass into the hands of the outgoing deputy mayor, Laura Nargi, even if in the last few hours the waters are being tested to try to coagulate forces around the now former prime minister, Ugo Maggio, the Festian lists are now almost closed.
And Gengaro is also working on the team to be put in place. The mayoral candidate of the Pd, M5s, Sinistra Italiana, Si Pu and Controvento has begun to mark the electoral territory with the first posters. If the 6×3 billboards and the “sails” will be released next week, Gengaro’s face immortalized along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, accompanied by the writing “The mayor of Avellino”, has already been visible for a few days on smaller posters posted in the appropriate spaces as well as on the windows of the electoral committee of Piazza Libertà, the same one that was chosen by the outgoing mayor five years ago. In the center-left house, the lists on the field should be three at most four. Some of those of the candidate for mayor, of the Pd and Five Star, in perhaps a fourth, more markedly left-wing group.
However, the first to have inaugurated the poster war, albeit projecting it towards winning a seat in the European Parliament, was Angelo Antonio D’Agostino. The profile of the president of US Avellino, candidate on the Forza Italia list, appears on posters and sails with his arms folded accompanied by the slogan “Together to get a voice back”. A candidacy that broke the administrative front with Festa: the entrepreneur, in fact, announced that he will support Forza Italia also in the city. The lack of ritual selfie taken after Avellino’s victories testifies to the estrangement between the two. After the 1-0 against Benevento, D’Agostino allowed himself to be immortalized with Rino Genovese, a Tgr journalist whose name is still in pole position as the centre-right mayoral candidate.
A few hours earlier, in the city council, the majority had rejected the minority’s amendment which asked for the construction project of the new stadium to be included in the Single Planning Document, then on Monday the city council realized that the first plan of the “Samantha della Porta” could not be granted free of charge to ITS “Ermete”, founded by D’Agostino, rectifying a previous resolution at the last minute.
