A Sicilian born in 1979 and known to all as Marracash
(Source “Onda Rock”) Fabio Bartolo Rizzo, a Sicilian born in 1979 of popular origins, emigrated to Milan as a young man. Despite the difficulties of a poor southerner in the great metropolis of the North, he manages to get noticed in an Italian scene in full creative awakening, in 2004 he joined the Dogo Gang (with Club Dogo, Vincenzo Da Via Anfossi, Deleterio) and awaits a debut of his own , which duly arrived in 2008: it’s called “Marracash”, clearly inspired by the “Moroccan” labels given to him as a child.
It sells well, the double-platinum single “Badabum Cha Cha” even breaks the wall of mainstream and so he replies with “Until here everything is fine” (2010), less successful. He relaunched his career with “King of rap” (2011), a decidedly more successful album crossovers, which also winks at rock and house, which in the meantime has come back into vogue hybridized with hip-hop also thanks to the driving force of Fabri Fibra. In 2012 she founded Roccia Music, her own independent label, then after a few postponements she published “Status” (2015), her true entry into the mainstream: singles on the radio, transversal collaborations (from Gué Pequeno to Tiziano Ferro), a modern production already smelling of trap. He crowned the positive period by collaborating with another rapper now enjoying mass success, his friend Gué Pequeno, for the album “Santeria” (2016), double platinum, first place in the Italian charts and another seven platinums with the singles .
A period of special editions and collaborations follows, then a personal crisis leads him to disappear from social media. He is reborn in 2019, collaborating with Elodie in hits “Margarita”, triple platinum, and then with his sixth studio work, “Persona”. For the Italian public it is the album of the year, a sensational quintuple platinum which inaugurates a more complex structure, with an underlying theme that acts as a glue. The ideal continuation of this new path arrives with “Noi, lui, gli altri” (2021), which extends the intuitions of the previous one from the analysis of the individual to the entire society (source “Onda Rock”).
