Synopsis of the show “Sal Da Vinci Stories”

The idea is to create a show that merges the melody of Sal’s past with the contemporary, or rather with the very essence of the technology with which we measure ourselves on a daily basis: social networks. The entire scenario takes place on an elegant stage, with a touch of neutrality and simplicity, where only two elements stand out: a piano with a computer placed on top and a large screen in the background of the stage.

Sal entertains himself with the computer, composing real stories on Instagram. These stories become the underlying theme of the show. While he builds them, the artist has the opportunity to creatively tell her life story to the audience in the room.

But let’s proceed in order, analyzing some examples. Sal’s first story is created using some photos of his father, projecting them onto the big screen. While these images appear, Sal comments on them and tells a piece of his life.

Instagram thus becomes an innovative, modern and non-self-congratulatory way to talk about oneself, allowing the show to proceed on two tracks. On the one hand, there is the public story that Sal actually shares online once composed, but, even more importantly, there is the private and intimate story, ironically told to the audience in the theater.

Ultimately, while the audience at home or on Instagram can see the end result of the speech, the emotional narrative that leads to that story unfolds on stage.

Each narrative will be enriched with videos, photographs and writings, accompanied by texts and musical pieces. We will explore the bond with his father, various characters who marked his life, his children, his first steps in the world of marriage, the success achieved with “Scugnizzi”, the relationship with Pino Daniele and the brilliant De Simone. We want to know his perception of Naples, where he was during the earthquake and find out what the meeting with Mattone was like to give life to “Scugnizzi”.

Ten life stories that are also intertwined with the dimension of Instagram, because Sal’s life deserves an intimate story. This will be an unreleased Sal, a profound and almost psychoanalytic journey between Naples, the music and the vivid colors of an artist whose voice and life escape any label.
