«Promote and implement professional training courses and internship activities for young people with the aim of training tourist guides to whom they can entrust the role of sentinels of cultural and religious heritageenhance the cultural and religious heritage of the Archdiocese of Naples, with particular attention to sites belonging to the UNESCO area as well as ecclesiastical assets and areas of historical and artistic value present in the Campania Region, to be used as a museum”. These are some of the main objectives of the memorandum of understanding between the Campania Region and the Archdiocese of Naples signed today by the governor Vincenzo De Luca and the archbishop Domenico Battaglia.
The agreement was born in view of the 2025 Jubilee for the valorisation of the cultural and religious heritage preserved by the Neapolitan archdiocese and using the Region’s task of valorising cultural and environmental assets and promoting and organizing cultural activities.

Campania, we read in the protocol, «recognizes the contribution deriving from the different histories, the different cultures and the Christian religious roots of the Campania communities and considers the meeting between the different civilizations, religions and cultures of the Mediterranean as a fundamental tool for training and growth of a pluralist and inter-ethnic community” and underlines that «in the year 2025 the Jubilee will be celebrated in Italy, an event of extraordinary importance for the Catholic Church and for the country as a whole. This event, which will bring millions of pilgrims and visitors from all over the world to Italian cities and regions, will offer a unique opportunity to promote the beauty of the region’s cultural and religious heritagewelcoming and guiding visitors on an unparalleled spiritual and cultural journey.”

The protocol also reminds you that «Tourism represents a key sector for the economic and social development of the Campania Region and the cultural and religious heritage safeguarded by the Archdiocese of Naples constitutes a precious resource for attracting national and international visitors» and that «collaboration aimed at valorising this heritage, both through the training of specialized tourist guides and through digital innovation to enrich the visitor experience, can significantly contribute to the sustainable growth of tourism in the region, guaranteeing at the same time time respect and conservation of sacred and historical places”.

The Region and the Archdiocese therefore undertake from today to «collaborate – we read – for the valorization of the cultural and religious heritage of the Archdiocese of Napleswith particular attention to sites belonging to the UNESCO area as well as to ecclesiastical assets and areas of historical and artistic value present in the Campania Region, in order to promote their finalization for cultural and religious tourism and offer young people in the region the opportunity to obtain qualified training in the various areas involved in the valorisation of cultural heritage”.

Among the objectives of the courses also «the training of operators and creators of digital content in order to encourage digital innovation in the cultural field and equip tourist itineraries with devices for augmented reality, virtual reality and metaverse” and “promote social inclusion through the provision of assistance and support services, such as, for example, listening centers, second level dormitories for without residence, supportive medical assistance through specialized doctors to treat people in difficulty”.
