Puglia Region, regional councilor Giuseppe Tupputi leaves ‘Con Emiliano’

After Antonio Tutolo (who moved to the Mixed Group) and Pierluigi Lopalco (who moved to the Democratic Party), Giuseppe Tupputi (now independent) also leaves the Con Emiliano council group, the political movement created by the President of the Puglia Region, represented in Capitanata by Rosario Cusmai.

With Alessandro Delli Noci, Gianfranco Lopane, Alessandro Antonio Leoci and former Forza Italia member Stefano Lacatena, the ‘Con’ group has four councilors: the balance is two fewer.

Giuseppe Tupputi thus justified his exit from the council group with which he had been elected.

“With”, in my opinion it has lost its identity, its prerogatives which convinced me to believe in this new challenge on the occasion of the 2020 regional elections. That simple preposition based on sharing and unanimity of intent has, in its path , first losing intensity and then completely forgetting its original connotation.

The political line drawn ‘aborigine’ is today barely mentioned and does not offer future prospects as the second most supported political force of the majority deserves. No capacity for self-determination nor political-administrative autonomy has been achieved by the Movement, which on the contrary too often appears to be a simple instrument in the hands of others.

In consideration of my role I have tried, on several occasions, to share my concerns with the aim of reawakening the spirit of the group which today appears anesthetized or simply ‘satisfied’.

The attempt at reconciliation appeared irretrievable when I did not perceive shared intent in the request for the elimination of the Regional Council and all the top roles of the participated agencies of the Region, to give a strong signal after the latest legal events that have hit the heart of politics Apulian, in the same way I was stunned when the meetings called to outline a fundamental political line for the continuation of the group’s activity were considered marginal.

I reluctantly believe that Con actually ceased to exist when individualistic positions suffocated the overall vision, when political positions and institutional roles quelled the ardor of a future plan to be shared in the interests of the community.

Instead we remain helpless in the face of events, phlegmatic and unmotivated despite the imminence of electoral events of fundamental importance such as the next European elections where citizenship could have played a leading role, helping to write the future of the European Union and that of Italy .

A missed opportunity, another one that I cannot ignore any longer, with respect and commitment to the entire community I represent.

I thank all those who supported me in this journey and I hope that that group born as a new challenge on the occasion of the 2020 Regionals, can rediscover the determination and enthusiasm that characterized it until the ‘We’ prevailed over the ‘I”.
