TRICASE – 24 hours after the theft at the Castrignano del Capo post office, the criminals also targeted the Tricase branch. There is little doubt that it is the same gang, given the operating mode: explosives in the cracks of the postamat and then away with the chest. It happened just before dawn, in one of the most central points of the town of Capo di Leuca: Piazza Cappuccini.
The criminals used the same technique as the day before, the so-called “marmot”, to cause an explosion and easily extract the automatic banknote dispenser. This time too, the damage is truly extensive: the consequences are visible on the wall of the post office, as well as in the premises.
The local police company intervened immediately, alerted by the numerous residents of the center who heard the explosion several hundred meters away. The military have already recovered the footage from the video surveillance system: Piazza Cappuccini is the commercial area of Tricase, dotted with shops and refreshment points.
