WEATHER MESSINA – As widely predicted last time week, after the long and unusual cold phase that characterized much of the third decade of April, a new, important change in circulation occurred in the central area of the Mediterranean, with the return of warmer and drier air masses from the Sahara . For us this has translated into the return of the clear, very dry sirocco, accompanied by very low relative humidity levels, even as low as 35% in the city, and peaks of 15% on the Tyrrhenian coast. In the next few hours the Sirocco will become wetter and will be accompanied by an increase in stratified cloud cover, due to the rise of an extensive “warm conveyor belt” (also explains the transport dynamics of Saharan dust towards Europe), ready to influence a good part of the day May 1. We are talking about an extensive cloud body, composed of stratified clouds, which will also bring with it desert dust, ready to settle on our cars, balconies and terraces, with the arrival of the rain showers expected as early as next night.

It will open in the morning with cloudy or very cloudy skies, with high and layered clouds, at times even quite compact, also capable of causing some rain or brief showers, mixed with desert dust. Weak phenomena will be more likely in the early morning, while for rain showers and some brief showers the risk will be greater between late afternoon and evening. This negative variability will continue until the afternoon and evening, when on the ground there will be a rotation of the wind, from sirocco to west, which will mark the end of this siroccal phase. The arrival of the cooler westerly and mistral winds will help to clean the skies well, while guaranteeing some variability over the Tyrrhenian area and the Strait, while large clearings will prevail in the Ionian area. Between the afternoon and evening, the risk of some brief and local rain between the Tyrrhenian coast and the capital cannot be ruled out. In the late evening, partly cloudy skies will prevail almost everywhere. Temperatures decreasing slightly, with highs around +19°C +20°C and minimal ones +14°C. Winds moderated by the mistral, with the Tyrrhenian Sea moderate, the Strait and the Ionian slightly moved.

A day characterized by a slightly cloudy sky and a decidedly more temperate climate, thanks to the constant blowing of the mistral. Some more pronounced cloud cover may be seen over the Strait in the morning, but without any phenomena. Maximum daytime temperatures will not exceed +20°Cminimal on +14°C. The Tyrrhenian Sea will still be locally rough, the Strait of Messina and the Ionian Sea will be slightly rough.
