SAN LORENZO IN THE FIELD An endless collection of prizes. The one produced by La Mieleria di San Lorenzo by Luca Londei is confirmed as among the best honeys in the Marche region.

Competition

At the regional competition ‘Marche Quality Award for Beehive Products 2023/2024’, organized by the Provincial Beekeeping Consortium of Ancona as leader of the 4 beekeeping consortia in the region, the coriander honey from the Laurentian company was the best of the Marche. «It is always an enormous satisfaction – underlines Londei – to be able to obtain these prestigious awards, which certify the quality of the path characterized by the highest quality that we have undertaken for many years now. These are recognitions that gratify and reward the great commitment we put into our work every day. I like to share the brilliant result with all my collaborators whom I thank, once again, for their extraordinary professionalism.” The coriander honey, produced in 2023, is a 0 km honey, born, in fact, just a stone’s throw from the company which is located, like the sales point, in via Miralbello along the ‘Pergolese’ road: «It was produced – continues Londei – in the nearby Fratte Rosa, in the hills of the Cesano valley. A honey that crystallizes during the winter, with a citrus flavor and spicy notes on the nose, perfect, in particular, for tea and herbal teas.”

Several awards

The one won a few days ago is only the latest in a numerous series of awards. In recent years La Mieleria di San Lorenzo has excelled at a regional level six times, as well as having also obtained awards at a national level, as in 2018, at the prestigious Grandi Mieli d’Italia Competition. «We pay the utmost attention and care to every phase of production, from positioning the hives to their management, through honey extraction and packaging. All are made directly by us to guarantee the highest quality in every step. This is the basis of our successes. Now – concludes Londei – we are working on new productions. Despite the climate not always being the best, the conditions for still excellent honey are all there.” There is a wide variety of honeys produced: acacia, chestnut, honeydew, wildflower, lime, sunflower, spring, flavoured, rapeseed and the award-winning coriander. The menu is completed by: royal jelly, pollen, propolis, cosmetics as well as many local food and wine products.
