With the first meeting of the ‘technical’ table which includes over 100 experts and chaired by the regional councilor for University, Research and Innovation, officially begins path on artificial intelligence wanted by Regional Council in an attempt to incentivize the system conditions to seize the opportunities offered by this ‘technological train’.
“We do it without fear, but with a great sense of responsibility – explained councilor Fermi – putting it on the table immediately 30 million euros. Ours is a territory that has innovation in its DNA and we know that we are already immersed in an era of transition and transformation, which brings with it unprecedented challenges”.
Artificial Intelligence will increasingly contribute to GDP growth, especially for those who know how to position themselves effectively in the evolving context. And, from the picture presented today, Italy is not yet keeping up the pace, being largely outside the top ten of AI investing countries in the last 5 years.
“We have at our disposal a network of investment funds that are attentive and ready to support bold initiatives, universities and research centers which – continued the councilor – are hotbeds of talent and research, globally recognized hospitals capable of advanced translational research, large companies that are leaders in their sectors and a unique startup ecosystem in the Italian panorama. On these assets we want to consolidate our competitive capacity in artificial intelligence and our strategic positioning at a global level.
“This – concluded the councilor – is exactly the reason why the ‘LombardIA’ initiative was born”. Next step the General States of Artificial Intelligence than Lombardy will host at the beginning of July and which will be the fruit of this path of collaboration and co-creation.
