Dongfeng is aiming for Italy to make itself known in Europe as a manufacturer of electric and hybrid cars, with a rather broad product offering ranging from 4 to 5 meters in length. “Italy is very interesting for its long automotive culture and the availability of ports.” On the employment impacts of a scenario that sees the presence of Dongfeng on production lines in Italy, the manager did not provide estimates: “we are not yet able to evaluate the impact in detail in terms of jobs.” The Minister of Business and Made in Italy Urso recently reiterated the need to expand automotive production in Italy, hoping for the arrival of new manufacturers beyond Stellantis.
