Competitiveness will be just one of the ingredients of the first Sunday of May, in which the Bavisela Family Run (a 7 km non-competitive race from Miramare Castle to Piazza Unità) will be the main actor with its over 6000 expected participants. The start of the Bavisela Family Run (10:00 am) will be anticipated at 09:45 by the Solidarity Relay in which teams of three people (the times of the three participants will be added to draw up a ranking) will run on the 7 km Family route for a noble and supportive cause, that is, supporting the activities of Dynamo Camp, charity partner of the event together with the Danube Children’s Association. The Association undertakes to support the costs of surgical operations, medical care and logistical support for family members accompanying the child.

THE TESTIMONIAL: GIORGIA MARCHI

An ideal passing of the baton from a high level Paralympic athlete to another who is no less. In 2023 the face of the Trieste Spring Run was Matteo Parenzan, already standard-bearer at the Closing Ceremony of the Tokyo Paralympics, capable of winning the European and World Paralympic table tennis championships in the same year, while the 2024 edition will feature on the cover Giorgia Marchi, from Trieste and rising Paralympic swimmer who, after experiencing the thrill of 12th place in the 100m breaststroke at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, will want to repeat the experience this summer in Paris. The girl from Trieste, born in 2001, is the Italian athlete with a relational intellectual disability, of reference and will be the testimonial of the Trieste Spring Run 2024. She exploded among the ranks of the USTN (Unione Sportiva Triestina Nuoto), after a path of further growth under the guidance of the Verona Swimming Team, for which she is a member of the Paralympic circuit, she joined the Fiamme Oro Sports Group in 2023 and today swims in Trieste with the Asd Tergeste Nuoto Altura, being part of the absolute team and therefore always training with the able-bodied. Giorgia’s story is a tale of obstacles overcome over the years thanks to the perseverance and discipline with which she faced every aspect of her life from school to sport, from fear to putting her head under water to getting on the stage of the Paralympics . Giorgia, she understood herself, accepted herself and with enviable strength managed to transform her difficulties into opportunities, gradually raising the bar while the individual objectives were achieved, including personal and athletic growth before everyone’s eyes.
