The meteorological situation is destined to change radically starting from the evening of Tuesday 16th, when a deep depression (996 hPa), called the “Gori” storm (from the CNMCA) will form between Lombardy and Triveneto, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures, strong winds and even thunderstorms. The joint action of the cyclonic vortex together with disturbance n. 4 rising from North Africa will literally extinguish the heat wave that has seen much of Europe on fire, including us, breaking countless records: with values ​​comparable to the third decade of June.

Now Italy as well as Emilia-Romagna will enter a diametrically opposite phase, by means of a disturbed cold flow descending from the North Atlantic which, as the hours go by, will approach beyond the Alps, filling itself more and more with cold air of origin arctic. This sharp change in circulation will dismantle the anticyclonic settlement in one fell swoop followed by a thermal collapse. The clash between diametrically opposed air masses will give rise to heated conflicts. The cold front will continue its march towards the South-East reinvigorated by the arrival of another cold impulse expected to reach us in the second part of Thursday 18th, which will contribute, through the action of further secondary cloud disturbances, to maintaining high instability even in the successive days (7-10 days). Even if by Saturday the conditions seem to temporarily improve, variability will reign supreme, and between sunny spells and dark clouds full of rain, the weather could redeem the spring liveliness by also influencing the next weekend. Before everything is confirmed, until then, we will have to deal with still intense ventilation which will accentuate the perception of the cold, some storm surges along the coastal areas due to a very rough wave motion, intermittent showers and thunderstorms and a new lowering of the snowfall limit around 900-1200 meters.
