“Why not use the stars to classify beach establishments in Puglia too?” – BarlettaLive.it

“The Apulian coasts have always been a tourist and economic attractor which sees our Region excelling in the national and international rankings in a context of offers linked to the services also offered by the Apulian beach establishments”. Thus the Action group leader and regional deputy commissioner Ruggiero Mennea.
He adds: “I would like to underline that for years we have been focused on this issue also in light of the law on changes to the regulation of accommodation facilities pursuant to articles. 5, 6 and 10 of law 17 May 1983, n. 217 of tourist activities for public use managed under concession and non-profit associations” which we approved in 2019 and which unfortunately was not followed up”.
The Action group leader and regional deputy commissioner Ruggiero Mennea specifies: “I continue to ask myself why we should not also benefit in Puglia – as happens in other regions of Italy and specifically in nearby Campania which uses this model – from the classification of bathing establishments based on the attribution of “stars” in the same way as what is already provided for accommodation facilities”.

Mennea’s conclusion: “With a view to solving the problem and in underlining that in any case we had seen well regarding the quality of the instrument – opposed by the ostracism and superficiality of some politicians of the majority of the time, who did not want to take taking into consideration all the image benefits, taking into account that we could have boasted a record – I reiterate my commitment to all the players in this important economic supply chain in Puglia. A bathing season must always have at its center aspects linked to the accessibility of disabled people, children and the elderly, without forgetting attention to eco-sustainability in the management of water, energy and waste. In this context, I believe that having an indicator with serious criteria for assigning ‘stars’ offers guarantees of method and transparency”.
