Daniele Barchi murder, the murderer’s ex-girlfriend convicted of aiding and abetting: the sentence
Descriptive text here

Murder in Via Fontanella del Suffragio, Azzurra Cerretani sentenced to one year and 4 months for aiding and abetting. Six years after the violent massacre in which Daniele Barchi lost his life yesterday morning, the position of the killer’s then girlfriend was also closed. The murderer was finally sentenced to 15 years in prison a few years ago. Azzurra Cerretani was present in the apartment on the night of the murder and for this reason she was investigated for complicity in murder. Forty-year-old Daniele Barchi was found murdered on May 22, 2018 in his small apartment in via Fontanella del Suffragio. The crazy rage of Stefano Pavani who had been living in his house for a few days killed him with his bare hands.

She collapses due to an illness on the tracks and is hit by the train in Vetralla station: the 23-year-old survives but loses a hand

The sentence

At the beginning of the proceedings the Prosecutor’s Office asked for Cerretani to be dismissed, probably because he did not take part in the brutal massacre. However, the Barchi family firmly opposed the dismissal, having sworn from the day of the sentence to knock on all doors to obtain justice for their tortured son. «They killed him – they said on the day of the sentence in front of the courtroom door – because he had sent them out of the house. On the morning of May 20th they forced their way into his apartment to take over the house. This is the real reason why my son was killed.” Despite the request for acquittal presented by the prosecutor’s office, the victim’s family continued to ask for justice for their son who died six years ago. Yesterday the preliminary hearing judge Giacomo Autizi reclassified the charge and Azzurra Cerretani was only convicted of aiding and abetting. She, the accused, was judged using the abbreviated procedure, which allows for the reduction of the sentence, and was also subjected to a psychiatric evaluation, resulting in her being capable of understanding and wanting.

«It is an exceptional result for us – states the lawyer Fausto Barili – because the charge for voluntary homicide was dropped and a situation in which we have always believed was crystallized: that is, that my client was unrelated to the murder dynamics that led to Barchi’s death . The Prosecutor’s Office was also convinced of this and had requested that the case be dismissed for the girl, underlining that there had been neither material nor moral participation in the murder. We will evaluate whether to appeal the aiding and abetting appeal.” The reasons for the sentence in 90 days.
