A very significant event of solidarity and sharing was represented by the visit to Forlì, from the 12th until yesterday, of the bishop of the Latin Church of Beirut, Monsignor Cèsar Essayan, who came to the city for the ‘ForLibano’ project of which also Avis is part of international solidarity projects. The Lebanese bishop met numerous Avis volunteers last Saturday, including Giulio Marabini (vice president and vicar of Avis Forlì and contact person for the ForLibano project) and visited the premises of the blood donor headquarters.

Avis has already contributed financially to the installation of solar panels and storage batteries in Al Bazuriyah high school, and has promoted a screening for female cancers for teachers over forty in the same institute. Among future projects, Avis of Forlì intends to start a process of scientific exchange with the private hospital of Hiram of Tire. Furthermore, Avis will be present at the International Camp, from 20 to 28 June, to transport the young Lebanese who will participate in this experience organized by the Caritas of Forlì-Bertinoro and the Committee for the fight against world hunger. During the four days of Monsignor Essayan’s stay in Forlì, a program full of meetings was organized in which the friendship between the two peoples was demonstrated through the collection and sending of material to Lebanon including clothes, toys, medicines, beds hospital supplies, wheelchairs, lifts and medicines. The ForLibano committee has already involved 1491 young people from Forlì middle and high schools, 10 of whom will be hosted from 20 to 28 June, together with the same number of young Lebanese people, at the International Camp of Peace.

All this to build bridges for peace in the various states. Monsignor Essayan expressed gratitude and recognition for the commitment to peace that the ForLibano Committee is promoting in the world, in particular in favor of Lebanon where the 4 and a half million citizens are experiencing a very difficult situation. “We hope that the election of a President of the Republic can cooperate for the peace and well-being of Lebanon – said the prelate –. ForLibano helps in emergencies, but to dream of a better future we need to support the educational aspect, young people and their needs healthcare”.
