One more warning, ex art. 3 of Law 38/2009, was signed by the Head of Police. The administrative provision was issued to provide a rapid and concrete response to the fight against violence against women.
Following the investigation carried out independently by the staff of the Anti-Crime Division, the Police Commissioner deemed it necessary to adopt the aforementioned prevention measure against a thirty-seven year old, in consideration of his oppressive and obsessive conduct towards his ex-girlfriend, in order to avoid the reiteration of such illicit conduct, or of future even more burdensome actions.
The young woman, already engaged to the person affected by the measure, was approached at work by her ex who demanded clarification about the end of their romantic relationship. Her attitude of avoiding him and refusing any contact had annoyed him so much that he reacted violently towards her ex-girlfriend, taking her mobile phone and throwing it to the ground.
It is always important to remember that the prevention measure known as “Warning from the Police Commissioner” constitutes an effective deterrent aimed at combating the phenomenon of domestic violence and stalking, to prevent it from degenerating into extreme conduct, sometimes with dramatic results. We also remind you that to activate this type of protection, the report does not necessarily have to come from the victim of the crime, but anyone who is aware of situations of this gravity can report the mistreatment suffered by the victim to the police, to avoid harmful events and therefore even a friend, a relative, a neighbor. We would also like to remind you that there is the possibility of access recovery paths for abusive men through the POLO9 association present in the capital.
Finally, it is also remembered that, as is also explicitly communicated to the recipient of the measure at the time of notification, if a person who has already been warned continues to harass the injured party, the conduct becomes prosecutable by the Police Office, without the need for a specific complaint from the victim.
