In recent days, a delegation from the Amandola Omnicomprehensive Institute participated in the ‘Day of the Sea and Maritime Culture’, organized in Reggio Calabria by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Coast Guard Harbor Office General Command. The ‘Sea Day’, established in 2017, promotes respect and protection of the marine environment and the development of sea culture. The ceremony was attended by over 700 students from all over Italy, the Minister Giuseppe Valditara, the vice-president of the Calabria Region Giuseppina Princi, the Deputy Commander General Admiral Inspector Sergio Liardo, and other local and military authorities. During the ceremony, Minister Valditara and Admiral Liardo awarded the 10 winning institutions of the ‘Citizenship of the Sea’ competition, including Amandola’s Omnicomprehensive, which came first in the middle school category. The project developed by the boys was to create a mural entitled ‘Beyond the sea of ​​plastic’ (8 meters long and 1.70 meters high), inspired by life in the sea. Work carried out at the Technical Economic Institute of Amandola, and created by the boys of 3A, assisted by some students attending the first year of the high school. The teachers Michele Carbonari and Viviana Vagnetti coordinated the work. The school director Rita Di Persio wanted to congratulate all the members of the Amandola All-inclusive for the excellent result obtained at a national level, she also wanted to thank the teachers Ornella Virgili, the secretariat, the photographer Giorgio Tassi for their willingness to ” immortalize” the work and the teachers Michele Carbonari and Enrica Ortolani who, together with eight students of the Institute, participated in the award ceremony.
