Sassari, two-year-old child hit in via Leoncavallo La Nuova Sardegna

Sassari A two-year-old boy was hit by a car yesterday afternoon, April 15, 2024 in via Leoncavallo. The little boy was inexplicably on the road when a Suzuki S Cross driven by a man from Sassari passed by 67 years old. Rescue was immediate with the intervention of the 118 operators who then transported the little boy to the hospital where he arrived in code red.

The child reported a head injury and in the evening he underwent a series of tests (including a skull scan) to assess the extent of the injuries. Officers arrived on site local police (the first to intervene were those from the motorcyclists group) who carried out the investigations and collected all the information to reconstruct what happened and ascertain any responsibilities. Some witnesses who were interviewed by the officers also witnessed the accident.

According to initial assessments, it appears that the child was found together with my mother in via Leoncavallo and at a certain point – perhaps due to a distraction or in any case following a sudden and unpredictable action – the little boy would have projected himself towards the road, crossing from the side of the car parks towards the pharmacy. The car would have hit him with its side.

They were moments of great fear: the child was crying and complaining of severe pain in his head. Rescue was very rapid with the activation of the protocols required in the case of accidents involving such young children.

In the evening they were underway clinical investigations for the child while local police officers were completing the reconstruction of the episode.
