Bad news for the Bologna of Thiago Motta losing Lewis Ferguson. The season is over for the Scottish midfielder who suffered a cruciate ligament injury and will be forced to undergo surgery. A very heavy loss for the rossoblù club which, in the midst of the Champions League race, will have to do without one of its key players in this final rush. Ferguson, who up to now had collected 6 goals and 3 assists, he will also be forced to skip the European Championship with Scotland and will have to work all summer to recover from the serious injury.

The official note from Bologna

«The tests to which Lewis Ferguson underwent following the sprained trauma to his right knee highlighted the injury to the cruciate ligament. The player will undergo surgery after which recovery times will be defined.”

Market scenarios

Although the exact recovery time is not yet known, Ferguson won’t be back on the pitch for 5-6 months. The Scottish midfielder’s injury could also compromise the issues that concern him in terms of the transfer market. In Serie A there are many suitors for the ’99 class but the serious injury could put a brake on any type of negotiation with Bologna. Napoli and Juventus have already tested the waters for Ferguson but at this point they could turn to other profiles.
