The lessons are not over yet but we already know when the new 2024-2025 school year begins (and ends) and (above all) there is already a complete calendar with all the established holiday days.
In fact, the decree of the regional department of education and professional training has been published which establishes the new 2024/2025 school calendar in Sicily, which concerns all schools of all levels on the island.
The “start” is set for Thursday 12 September 2024 while the end for Saturday 7 June 2025. The exception is nursery school, for which the end of educational activities is set for 28 June 2025 (but in the period between 9 and 27 June the institutes can leave only the sections necessary to guarantee the service in operation ).
There will be a total of 207 school days or 206 if the local patron’s day falls during the school term.

With regard to festivities national.
– 1 November 2024: All Saints’ Day;
– 8 December 2024: Immaculate Conception;
– 25 December 2024: Christmas;
– 26 December 2024: Boxing Day;
– January 1, 2025: New Year’s Day;
– 6 January 2025: Epiphany;
– 20 April 2025: Easter;
– 21 April 2025: Easter Monday;
– 25 April 2025: Liberation Day;
– 1 May 2025: Labor Day;
– 2 June 2025: Republic Day.
The Feast of the local Patron Saint is added to the national holidays if it falls during the school term.
School activities, in schools of all levels, are suspended in the following periods:
– holiday of November 2, 2024;
– Christmas holidays: from 23 December 2024 to 7 January 2025 (ten days of suspension);
– Easter holidays: from 17 April 2025 to 22 April 2025 (four days of suspension).
However, the anniversary of May 15th, Sicilian Autonomy Day, does not provide for the interruption of lessons because it is expected to be dedicated to specific moments of scholastic aggregation for the study of the Statute of the Sicilian Region and for the in-depth study of problems connected to autonomy, history and regional identity.
Based on the needs due to the educational offer plan, the individual club or institute councils can adopt flexibility criteria regarding the start date and suspension of educational activities, providing for the recovery of lessons in other periods of the year. ‘year. In particular, educational institutions can establish further suspensions of lessons for a maximum of three days.
