For the death of a one month old babywhich took place a week, three doctors from theSan Leonardo hospital in Castellammare di Stabia were registered in the Register of suspects of the Torre Annunziata Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation was opened following the complaint filed by parents of the unborn child, who died in hospital. The baby remained hospitalized for a month in the neonatal intensive care unit.

The director of the neonatal intensive care unit of the San Leonardo hospital in Castellammare di Stabia, Roberto Cinelliexplains that the little boy was hit by a «very serious perinatal asphyxia linked to a difficult extraction due to the presence of a real knot in the umbilical cord” and in the following days by “a very serious hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy with multiple organ failure and the need for continuous mechanical ventilation.” The ASL Napoli 3 Sud confirms “full confidence in the work of the judiciary” and expresses “closeness to the family” of the dead newborn.
