Just under 700,000 euros raised in 25 editions of the “Spring Evening”, an event organized by the Committee for the fight against cancer of Anzio and Nettuno. This is one of the data provided by Gianfranco Meconi, president of the Committee, illustrating the event (the 26th) that will take place Thursday 11 April starting from 8.30pm at the “Moderno” multiplex in Anzio. The presentation took place at Villa Sarsina, headquarters of the Municipality of Anzio “and we thank the extraordinary commission for having granted the room and the patronage” – underlined the president.
Artists? “Nationally renowned stand-up comedians, actors and singers, as has always been the case, but we cannot comment on the names at the moment, because they all come free of charge and at the last moment they could have other commitments” – explained Meconi.
The evening, designed to raise funds for equipment for the Anzio and Nettuno hospital, saw among the historic presenters Fabrizio Frizzi (“who always left a check for the committee at the end” – recalled the president) and the participation of well-known showbiz personalities, from Paolo Bonolis to Antonella Clerici, from Teo Mammucari to Danilo Rea.

Purchases and initiatives
Over the years, ultrasound machines, mammographs have been purchased (“with the opening of a breast clinic which is a flagship of the hospital” – Meconi continued), phototherapy units for dermatology, electric scalpels, Doppler ultrasound, computers , armchairs for patients, electrocardiograph and many other equipment which the same doctors who asked the Committee for support then used for free visits and screening of the population.
“But we also provided a psychological support service at the oncology day hospital – explained Daniela De Franceschi, of the committee – by paying the staff ourselves”.
The machinery cost 622,734.95 euros, the psychological service 77,329.68 euros for a total, in March 2024, of 697,064.63
From Spring to Summer
Also present were the representative of the “Tirrena” establishment of Anzio and the architect Giovanni Battista Lo Fazio who illustrated a series of cultural initiatives being planned at the lido for the next summer season. The link? “We will donate the proceeds from paid activities to deserving associations like this – explained Alberto Castaldi of Tirrena – but we will also place piggy banks”. There will be “moments linked to cinema, culture and music – added Lo Fazio – in what we can consider the Gulf of Rome between Anzio and Nettuno”. With an eye on solidarity
