Sanremo. The mayoral candidate writes Fulvio Fellegara, for Generazione Sanremo: «The President of the Province, Claudio Scajolaraised a topic of great importance regarding the recovery of Riviera Transport, proposing the involvement of the Sanremo Casino. However, we would like to highlight some important considerations that emerge from his statements ».

The press note continues: «First of all, it is necessary to underline that the President of the Province poses the problem selectively, addressing only one part of the issue that best suits him. It is clear that the Mayor of Sanremo, Alberto Biancheri, has demonstrated a total disinterest in local public transport, as certified by the transfer of the corporate shares of Palazzo Bellevue to the Province. This behaviour, combined with the lack of a concrete plan to improve the public transport service, risks condemning Riviera Trasporti to the perennial financial crisis, caused by a historic series of inefficient management and inadequate administrative management.to”.

Adds Fellegara: «The proposal to use casino revenues to solve public transport problems appears extremely simplistic and partial. A more ambitious and inclusive approach is needed that involves all the mayors of the province in finding concrete and lasting solutions. The burden of the problems cannot be entirely placed on the citizens of Sanremo. For years, our city has suffered a serious lack of urban service, with continuous disruptions and interruptions in essential routes for connections with the hamlets and the hospital. Furthermore, the lack of support for the means available to disabled people represents an important critical issue that requires immediate and concrete solutions. We want to underline that President Scajola’s unilateral decision to dismantle the trolleybus trolleybus without a clear plan for the electric conversion of public transport was a serious mistake, especially considering the lack of involvement of the coastal municipalities in this decision. Finally, we would like to reiterate that the Municipality of Sanremo has already done its part to save Riviera Trasporti, granting the change of use of the San Martino depot. We invite President Scajola to present an ambitious and shared plan for public transport».
