Community of Vezzano Ligure mourning the premature death of Alessandro Ditria, known to all as the “Profe”, teacher of history and philosophy at the Pacinotti high school in La Spezia, but also municipal administrator, intellectual and person esteemed by all for his culture and humanity. “All of Vezzano loses a point of reference – the local PD club reminds us in a note – a man of history and well-identified and identifiable ideas but always ready for dialogue, comparison, to question himself and curious in trying to understand the reasons of those who had a different thought from his. His acuteness, his great experience of life and politics, his interest in the fate of his own country led him to inform himself and to follow, albeit with disenchantment but always with infinite passion, political events even over the last few years, from time to time from time to time encouraging or warning those who asked him for advice. His beloved philosophy accompanied him throughout his life, giving him inspiration, training him until he decided to dedicate himself to contributing, for decades, to the scholastic education, and not only, of the “new generations” towards whom he looked with hope. Always histrionic, witty and intelligent, he loved telling anecdotes and memories linked to his town and the people of Vezzano almost like a consummate actor, gathering friends around him on convivial evenings, companions after political activities or his beloved students. The Profe was also an excellent cook, he delighted in the kitchen exactly as he did in treatises on philosophy and history and now that we miss him and he would certainly have criticized these few lines with which we remember him, we imagine him leaving us as Socrates did in his last greeting to his followers: “….
