“The extensive work that affects one of the main city arteries is taking shape, and we are satisfied with this”. Thus Riccardo Marzi, deputy mayor and councilor for public works regarding the regeneration and redevelopment project of green areas and urban spaces, financed with funds from the Pnrr, National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Specifically, on this occasion we are dealing with the work that concerns Viale Vittorio Veneto, one of the most popular and popular in the Borgo. Remembering that for the adjacent area surrounding the railway station the request from the Municipal Administration is underway to obtain the loan for use of the existing spaces and buildings, the project for Viale Vittorio Veneto envisages multiple intervention solutions. First of all, the creation of an equipped pedestrian area to replace the current asphalt car park.

The stalls will be positioned in a herringbone pattern along the road, separating vehicular mobility from slow cycle-pedestrian mobility, through the arrangement of a green area where the new lighting fixtures will be placed, as well as a series of ornamental vegetation species that are easy to maintain . A green belt will also be created along the perimeter wall where the lime and plane trees that characterize the avenue currently stand. The project also includes an irrigation system.

The cycle path in bituminous conglomerate with natural aggregates and colored binder in warm tones will then act as a hinge between Viale Veneto and the station square, where there will be parking spaces for bicycles. “The companies in charge are at work” declares councilor Marzi “This is a particularly complex intervention, because it also concerns underground services, such as sewerage, aqueducts and the gas distribution network.

However, it is progressing well and we can already see the new look that the avenue will take on once the work is completed. The desire is to respect the timetable we have set, with the first batch having to be finished by the end of next April. We reiterate our satisfaction with the progress the works are following, having taken the opportunity to carry out a large-scale intervention intended to change the image and usability of Sansepolcro for the better”.
