They tried to obtain the license through electronic equipment, such as micro cameras and microphones, hidden in their clothes. Five foreigners, an Egyptian, an Indian and three Pakistanis were caught during checks at the motor vehicle control center in the Piedmontese capital, where theory tests for obtaining a B driving license were underway, and reported by the Turin traffic police.

The equipment used was capable of receiving and transmitting data to support the test, as happened in 2018 when a Chinese citizen showed up at the Turin DMV who passed the theory exam for the driving license without errors, despite not understanding a word of Italian (a too flashy wig also betrayed the candidate , under which he hid a telephone, used to communicate with the outside world and obtain all the answers to the quizzes). Despite these precautions, the agitation of some of the candidates in the first morning session aroused the suspicion of the officers who stopped the five at the beginning of the exam.

“Many candidates, mostly foreigners and with little knowledge of the Italian language – explain the traffic police – they give in to the lure of criminal organizations who, in exchange for a few thousand euros, promise that they will pass the exam thanks to suggestions provided through electronic tools which over time have become increasingly sophisticated, also to evade checks and investigations by the police.”

The five were reported at large and the electronic devices in their possession were seized like the sweatshirts worn, specially modified to allow the concealment of micro cameras.
