ROSE GARDEN. «After a year of hesitation, we want answers from the Civil Protection or from those responsible regarding the situation of the Ukrainians. The more time passes, the more the problems increase.” Some hoteliers in Roseto and Cologna Spiaggia, among them, can no longer cope Anthony Romani, Claudio Caporaletti And Alessia Narcisthewho gathered yesterday morning in the Marechiaro residence together with some Ukrainian women.
«Between the two of them, currently, they pay the rent at their own expense in apartments in Roseto, which however they will have to leave at the end of May», says Caporaletti, who had Ukrainian guests in his Marechiaro residence until last month, «and even 35 Ukrainian men and women, including children, who are currently in a house in Isola, have said that they will soon be kicked out, and have been without food for four months because they lack funds.” Romani and Narcisi, owners respectively of the Baia del Re hotel in Cologna and the Narcisi hotel in Roseto Sud, still have 27 Ukrainian men and women in their hotels, of which 12 at the Baia del Re and 15 at the Narcisi, but from 17 June 2023 , the date on which their exit from the Designa program was announced (a program that provided compensation to hotels for Ukrainian guests), they did not receive funds, and until today they have guaranteed room and board to Ukrainians in their hotels at their own expense. «This problem persists», adds Romani, «a month ago we also went to Rome and spoke with Titti Postiglione, deputy head of the Civil Protection department. You assured us that they would work to resolve these situations, but to this day we still know nothing.” Since last June, several Ukrainians have been hosted in some houses in Isola del Gran Sasso, but there are problems there too.
«These people, despite the emergency having been extended until December 2024», says Narcisi, «do not know peace. We ask that the Civil Protection, or whoever is responsible, takes action as soon as possible. Furthermore, we should open for Easter, and there are still Ukrainians inside our hotels. It is not possible that the problems were there before and are still there today, after a year, because the funds are not there or have not been released.”
