The IPSERA international conference in Rio de Janeiro awarded the prize for best scientific article to the University of Udine, selected from 200 studies conducted by universities around the world. IPSERA represents the reference scientific association worldwide on the topics of purchasing and supply chain management.

The study analyzes how the use of digital platforms shared between client companies and suppliers can contribute to the monitoring and improvement of the environmental and social performance of the entities involved. This involves the use of new digital technologies which, by sharing and analyzing the data of collaborating companies, are able to identify critical areas and possible improvement actions, for which shared initiatives can be activated.

For the research, Uniud analyzed the experience of participants in an emerging platform, highlighting the discontinuities with the approaches used so far for managing suppliers on sustainability issues. This is an extremely current topic given the recent developments in the European regulatory context, which increasingly require companies to take responsibility for the sustainable growth of their supply chain.

The management engineering research group that conducted the study is made up of three professors from the University of Udine: Guido Nassimbeni, Marco Sartor and Giovanna Culot. Also present is Prof. Guido Orzes, now active at the Free University of Bolzano. The contents of the study will be transferred to the territory both in the lessons of the Master in Business Administration and the Master in Purchasing of the University of Udine which are coordinated by the same research group. The teachers will also hold a public meeting open to local companies in which the main results will be presented.
