The Taranto prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the death of Monica Bongellino, a 32-year-old pizza chef from Ginosa, who died at the Santissima Annunziata hospital a few days after having carried out a spirometry in a healthcare facility in the Taranto area.

The news is reported in some media. An examination considered routine following which he suffered the first illness with retching. But soon the clinical picture worsened enough to make it necessary to transfer the woman to the Taranto hospital, where she was admitted to intensive care. But there was nothing that could be done for the patient. The family of the 32-year-old presented a complaint which came to the attention of the public prosecutor on duty Enrico Bruschi, who ordered an autopsy to ascertain the causes of death and evaluate whether or not there were any responsibilities of the doctors who treated her . Monica Bongallino was part of the Genusia “mani in pasta” association and was well known in the Ionian town. The mayor of Ginosa Vito Parisi joined her messages of condolence. “A pain – he wrote in a post on Facebook – for our entire community. We are close to the family for this terrible loss. It will be impossible to forget the smile of our Monica.”
