2024 is a year of crucial importance regarding the energy market, as a consequence of the transition process from the protected market to the free market. In this context, a whole series of steps must be taken into consideration with the relevant dates to be respected and, specifically, it is important to mark the deadline of 30 June 2024 on the calendar.
The relevant communication came from Arera which provided a series of important clarifications on the procedure that the parties involved must carry out, also remembering that they have prepared an ad hoc web page containing all the information. So let’s find out what it is.
Energy market, the date to mark on the calendar is June 30th
So what needs to be done by June 30th? As specified by the company this date is crucial for a specific category of people who will still have two months to send the specific request electronically or via telephone channels.
The Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment had already provided a recommendation on 23 February aimed at those who exercise the enhanced protection service relating to the information and usability of the service as well as the activation methods.
Now she has intervened again to delve into the merits of the so-called return to greater electrical protection service for, in this case, non-vulnerable domestic users. Specifying that “the request” must be forwarded by the customer “to the operator of the service in the municipality where the supply is located”.
Adding that for those who do not know the name of the merchant it is possible to trace it via the specific page on the official Arera website. Continuity of supply will always be ensured as happens for every type of switching request.
Adding that the date of June 30th is the one scheduled for all non-vulnerable domestic electricity customers who are currently on the free market and who intend to return to the enhanced protection service.
In this way they will be “transferred to the gradual protection service”. The procedure provides that, once the application has been sent, the enhanced protection merchants forward the switching requests to the Integrated Information System based on the ordinary deadlines. The current contract will continue to be applied, concluded Arera, “until the gradual protection service comes into force”.
