Energy saving in Arezzo hospitals

Friday 26 April 2024 – 3pm

It is called the Illumination Project and will allow the hospitals of Arezzo and that of Valdarno to have new lighting fixtures, more efficient and with significant energy savings. The tender procedures for the installation have just been awarded and work is scheduled to begin in summer 2024.

The interventions involve the replacement of the old lighting technology, currently present in some areas of the two hospitals, with the new technology of LED lighting, which will allow, thanks to the presence of innovative home automation systems, the regulation of the luminous flux.

The overall value of the two interventions is 1,600,000 euros and will lead to a significant modernization of the internal and external lighting infrastructure of the San Donato hospitals in Arezzo and Gruccia del Valdarno with significant energy savings which will reduce energy consumption by 504,821.28 kWh. electricity from the ASL Toscana Sud Est company.
Just to give a perception of the importance of this intervention, 504,821.28 kWh correspond to the energy consumption of 229 families or to what a 420 kWp photovoltaic system can self-produce.

This intervention is included in the actions planned in the company’s Energy Efficiency Plan 2023 – 2028, which includes 18 million euros of investments in energy efficiency.
The end of the works is scheduled for autumn 2024 with the switching on of the first LED lights in the San Donato Hospital in Arezzo and in that of Santa Maria alla Gruccia in Valdarno.
