Last of the championship with San Giovanni in Marignano for the Black Angels, at the end of the match the awards ceremony for winning the A1. Coach Giovi: “Determined girls, we want victory

Perugia, 28 March 2024 – Last presentation of the match for this season which saw Bartoccini Fortinfissi Perugia triumph both in the championship, with the achievement of promotion to A1 after just one year of relegation, and in the Italian Cup.

The 2023/2024 sporting year ends at Palabarton with the match against Omag Mt San Giovanni in Marignano. On paper, neither of the two teams has anything left to ask for: the Black Angels have now achieved their maximum objective, while the Romagna teams are out of contention for the playoffs. Yet there is no shortage of motivation to do well at Perugia. This is stated directly by the “helmsman” of Bartoccini Fortinfissi Andrea Giovi:

“This match will close the circle of an extraordinary adventure – says the coach with great pride – We have already celebrated the A1 between us and, as I told the girls with a joke, it showed in Mondovì. In fact, in the last race we arrived too relaxed and with little adrenaline in our bodies.

It may be right now, but the way we lost was bad. This work week, however, was completely different. I don’t know how the match against San Giovanni can end, but the girls are particularly motivated and determined to finish in the best possible way in front of our audience. There is a desire to celebrate the goals achieved together with our fans with success.”

Giovi then gives a brief account of the entire season: “The journey, which started on August 17th, was undoubtedly excellent in terms of the group’s growth. This is my first experience as a coach and I don’t have any particular yardsticks to judge our championship in more depth. There were certainly three other teams that could aspire to the same goals as us. However, with dedication to work and sacrifice, but above all with facts, by playing very good volleyball, we have demonstrated that we deserved them more than anyone else.”

The appointment is for Friday 29 March at Palabarton with kick-off at 8.30pm. At the end of the match, the awards ceremony for the Black Angels will be held by the Women’s Volleyball League, so that no one leaves their place at the end of the match. The big party is about to begin and it is important not to miss a historic moment for the city of Perugia.

As for the starting sextets, coach Giovi will certainly rely on Ricci and Montaño in the diagonal, Bartolini and Cogliandro in the center and Traballi and Kosareva in the flank. Sirressi will lead the second line. The San Giovanni coach Matteo Bertini, a great ex of the challenge, will line up his team with Ghibaudo at setter, Ortolani opposite (another former player), Consoli and Parini in the center and Nardo and Pecorari in the forwards. The libero is Meliffi. The two teams have already faced each other twice this season: at Palabarton, in the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup (3 to 1 for Perugia) and in the first round of the Pool promotion at PalaMarignano (3 to 0 for the Romagna team ).
