In the balance of the sprint for the Lega Pro, Agliana’s shot is one of those that can shift the balance. Yet another test of strength for a Carpi team that manages to raise the bar every week. In the 2-1 win against ‘Bellucci’ (a field on which they had never won) there was all the hunger of a team that with the goals of the central defenders Calanca and Zucchini with the fifth victory in a row (ninth in the last 10 matches) held at -2 Ravenna, easily victorious in Budrio, now the red and whites’ only rival, after Forlì (-7 like Lentigione) and San Marino raised the white flag.
Carpi with Larhrib for Cortesi (gastritis attack, on the bench to make up the numbers) and Rossi preferred to Beretta pass to the first attack thanks to Calanca, who puts Mandelli’s corner in from close range on Rossi’s side. Despite the strong wind against them, the red and whites did not give up playing and from the Forapani-Saporetti dialogue the left-handed crosser from the 10 found a great save from Valentini. The only home response was Marino’s “bet” which was just a little high. Carpi loses Rossini (thigh, inside Zucchini) and would deserve the 2-0 with Rossi’s great right from the edge defused by Valentini and Sall’s percussion on the right, whose shot saves Pupeschi on the line. In the second half with the Bora wind preventing plays, the red and white light is off, an inexplicable initial blackout that revives the Tuscans. After the thrill at the start when Zumpano arrived a moment late at the far post on Viscomi’s cross, Mascari equalized immediately with a dirty shot in the mix, after a ball badly returned by the red and white defence. A shot that the team of a very angry Serpini accuses and requires a flight from Lorenzi to remove Viscomi’s bomb from under the crossbar from the edge. Arrondini, Tcheuna and Beretta are the antidotes from the bench and they work this time too. Tcheuna himself crosses for Arrondini’s header which forces Valentini to volley. A signal that shortly afterwards turns into Zucchini’s goal: Larhrib’s splendid work triggers Saporetti whose assist from the left is a chocolate for the defender’s head.
Mandelli immediately comes close to scoring a trio from outside, then Baiano plays Vanni and Silvestro for the attack with the 4-2-3-1 but apart from a ball not caught in the area by Remedi there are no real dangers and indeed Saporetti comes close on the counterattack the third goal in the fifth of 6 minutes of added time which sealed a golden success.
