«Cagliari, the plaque in memory of Franco Oliverio has disappeared»

«Dear Union,

On Friday 22 March, in a public meeting, Franco Oliverio, doctor, friend, witness of our time, was remembered twenty years after his premature death.
On the occasion it was recalled that the Municipality of Cagliari dedicated a square to Franco Oliverio, in front of the parish church of the San’Elia district: on 16 April 2010, the mayor Emilio Floris, with a short ceremony, unveiled the plaque “square Franco Oliverio” hoisted on a special flagpole.

Today the plaque no longer exists, presumably removed by vandals in the beautiful square, which was also noticeably damaged in the steps that surround it in a semicircle.
We believe it is more urgent than ever for the Municipality, to which we have already reported, to intervene to restore the plaque and carry out adequate extraordinary maintenance to restore decorum to the entire square.
The memory of Franco Oliverio is very present in the hearts of the many who loved him and who received help and solidarity from him, so much so that he was an exemplary figure, of whom the city of Cagliari must be proud and grateful.

Thanks for your attention”.
