The prior of the Archconfraternity of Carmine, Antonello Papalia, chose the “knights of Dead Jesus”, the personalities invited to hold the “lace” of the statue during the procession of the Mysteries. There are two compositions: the first, with four knights, will escort the simulacrum from the exit of the Carmine to the entrance to San Francesco, the second will cover the return route of the court.
For the first part, Prior Papalia chose the lawyer Francesco Tacente, a prominent figure in the legal and associative panorama of Taranto and president of the CTP, and then the doctor Angelo Vozza, and again Michele Papa, brother of the late archbishop of Taranto Benigno Papa, and the engineer Giorgio Tonti. In the second part, Giovanni Schinaia, professor of Literature and cashier of the Archconfraternity of Carmine, were identified, together with Nicola Albano, historical face of the Ionian ecclesiastical administration.
To these are added two priors of the Addolorata congregation: the current leader of the association Giancarlo Roberti and the prior emeritus Antonio Liuzzi, professor of literature and author of important publications on the history of Taranto rites.
