The launch of thefree next-gen update of Fallout 4 didn’t go exactly as expected, bringing with it a trail of problems that didn’t make the experience particularly smooth for many fans, especially on PS5.

As we had reported to you in recent days, users registered for PlayStation Plus Extra were in fact unable to download the PS5 patch: a problem confirmed by Bethesda itself, which had asked for patience while it worked on a fix.

Those who were waiting for the version for the subscription service (you can find a dedicated gift card on Amazon) will now finally be able to have fun with this new edition: as reported by PlayStation LifeStyle (Street Push Square), the free next-gen update of Fallout 4 has finally been unlocked for PS5 users.

However, as Bethesda itself had already tried to anticipate, there is bad news: not all users who own a copy of the game will be able to download the latest generation upgrade at no additional cost.

Who had in fact redeemed Fallout 4 through the now defunct PlayStation Plus Collection will not be entitled to the PS5 version: if you are part of this circle of enthusiasts, you will necessarily have to settle for the PS4 edition.

Alternatively, it will be necessary buy manually the next-gen edition of the game, perhaps waiting for a possible discount on the PlayStation Store: the confusing messages arriving from Sony and the developers themselves probably they did not help to make the practices particularly clear for upgrades and restrictions, but at least now we know the truth.

A decidedly unpleasant disparity in treatmentbut at least users registered with PS Plus Extra will finally be able to rediscover the fourth chapter of the post-apocalyptic saga.

In any case, as we anticipated at the beginning, the launch did not go without problems: even Xbox and PC users were not particularly satisfied with the numerous bugs found.

A bizarre example can be found using the game on Steam Deck: as our Stefania Sperandio told you, with the next-gen update Fallout 4 It’s verified on Steam Deck, but it actually ran much better before.
