The date of March 29 coincides this year with Good Friday with the traditional procession which represents the descent from Calvary and the deposition of the Dead Christ in the Sepulchre. There are various religious events throughout the Samnite province: in the historic center of Benevento, at 8pm, the departure of the procession from the Cathedral, on Corso Garibaldi. The important religious event is organized by the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. The procession will travel along Corso Garibaldi, turn onto Viale dei Rettori and arrive at the Arch of Trajan. Subsequently he will travel along Via del Pomerio, Via Ennio Goduti and, finally, part of Corso Garibaldi to return to Sant’Anna, where there will be the traditional message from Archbishop Felice Accrocca.
The ancient village of San Lorenzo Maggiore will experience one of the most evocative of the religious events in Campania: the Passion of the Lord which will culminate on Good Friday, March 29th, with the procession of the Beaters. Faceless and voiceless men, women and children. Covered by a simple hood and a white coat that recalls purification, barefoot and with a slow gait they walk through the streets of the town, which echoes moving songs performed by the choir and the people, flagellating their backs with ‘discipline’ until they to bleed. At 5.30pm Liturgical Action and adoration of the Cross in the parish; at 7.00 pm from the Church of the SS. Name of God Procession of the Dead Christ and of Our Lady of Sorrows with the penitential procession of the Battenti.
At 5.00 pm, in the civic church of the Santissima Annunziata of Benevento, the “Stabat mater” by Pasquale Cafaro (1715-1787), rediscovered by Leonardo Quadrini among the “hidden treasures” of the Library of San Pietro a Majella in Naples. Conducted by Veaceslav Quadrini, the International Orchestra of Campania will perform together with the Festival Chamber Choir, soprano Luciana Dtante, mezzo-soprano Deborah Colangelo, harpsichord Leonardo Quadrini. Artistic director of the event, now in its fifteenth edition, Vanni Miele. The cultural initiative, in collaboration with Monsignor Mario Iadanza and the Archdiocese of Benevento, is part of the “Digital Notes” project, promoted by Musicainsieme Benevento together with Mic and New Generation EU.
In the Vitulanese Valley there is also space for musical events: at the Granchio Nero Caffè in Piazza Sant’Anna, in Foglianiseat 10 pm, Healthy God in concert. The universe of Healthy God (Daniele Amoresano) is populated with decaying buildings, abandoned railways, centuries-old trees and cats. He plays the guitar, sings loud and soft on icy and martial bases.

From 2.00pm to 8.00pm, near the Arcos Museum, located in Corso Garibaldi in Benevento, a significant one will be held collecting signatures to support the popular initiative bill “Io Coltivo!”. This initiative is part of a broader movement involving “one hundred squares throughout Italy”, promoted by the Meglio Legale association, led by Antonella Soldo, from 15 to 30 March 2024. The proposed law “Io Coltivo!” represents a step forward towards the decriminalization of cannabis cultivation for personal and associated use.
In via Sorlati, 9.30 pm, in Airola on Scapestro concert, stage name of the Neapolitan singer-songwriter Fulvio Di Nocera, already known as a bassist and double bass player; co-founder of the Neapolitan jungle-drum’n’ bass band Polina, active in the late ’90s and recognized by the public and critics as one of the most interesting and innovative groups of the moment.
From 2000 to 2008 he was the bassist of Bisca, a historic Neapolitan band, and in 2004 he joined the international band Songs for Ulan; he also boasts numerous studio and live collaborations with 24 Grana, Francesco di Bella, Pennelli di Vermeer, Epo, Assurd, Rione Junno and many others. In the summer of 2015 he released his first single “Vado per un po'” as Scapestro with the Nut Label label and the video clip of the same created by “Creacose” with the collaboration of Francesco Galdo and Denise Galdo. Accompanying him live is percussionist-singer Chiara Carnevale (Assurd) and Antonella Bianco (Coma Berenices) on keyboard and electric guitar.
