AVEZZANO. Enhanced services, safety measures and traffic restrictions around the Marsi stadium today for the eagerly awaited Avezzano-L’Aquila derby. Kick-off is at 2.30pm. The ordinance signed by the mayor Gianni Di Pangrazio prohibits the sale of spirits within dei Marsi and in commercial establishments within a radius of 500 meters from the facility, allowing only the sale and administration of drinks that do not exceed 5 degrees of alcohol exclusively in plastic containers. The provision prohibits the introduction or consumption of drinks in glass bottles or containers in the area affected by the event to safeguard public safety. The safety measures to be adopted for the derby were at the center of a table that met last Friday at the Avezzano police station. Even the prefect, Giancarlo Di Vincenzo, within the Order and Safety Committee which met yesterday, wanted to examine the services set up to carry out the event peacefully. The match between the green and whites and the red and blues has always been considered at risk of clashes. This is why an accurate security service has been set up around the stadium. As for traffic restrictions around the sports facility – from 11am until the end of the event – a parking ban with removal and a transit ban for all vehicles in the municipal car park behind the stadium, between via Cassino and and via Genova, intended for guest parking. Prohibition of transit and parking with removal, except for the vehicles of visiting fans, also on Via Cassino. The only transit ban concerns, however, via Genova (from the intersection with via Circe to the intersection with via Ferrara), via Ferrara (from the intersection with via Genova to the one with via Catanzaro), via Crema (from via Cosenza to the intersection with via Ferrara). Prohibition of transit and parking in Piazza Beato Zeffirino. Finally, there is only a parking ban with removal on via Ferrara (from the intersection with via Napoli to the one with via Catanzaro), via Genova (from piazza Castello to the intersection with via Elvezia), via Catanzaro (from the intersection with via Cosenza to the one with via Ferrara) and via Bologna from via Catanzaro to via Magenta.
