The union representatives condemn the director’s decision “to hide a piece of news” on the very day in which the assembly declared a state of unrest. The Fnsi president thanks them for defending “the dignity of a newspaper and therefore of the Public Service”. For L’Usigrai “we are now at the point of misinformation”.
«Once again the director of RaiNews24 decides to hide a piece of news. Prosecutor Gratteri’s statements on the psycho-aptitude tests of magistrates are a fact that must be taken into account in the name of free information; news widely covered by the main news programs and information sites. Information that our users cannot find, and for this reason they increasingly decide to get information elsewhere. At a certain point Gratteri’s statements disappeared in our news. We ask ourselves why? On the RaiNews.it website the news was given only thanks to the publication of the 7pm Tg3 report”. This is what he says. in a note released on Wednesday 27 March 2024, the Cdr of the Rai all-news program.
«On the day in which the assembly declared a state of unrest – continues the Cdr of Rainews – it is even more serious to find that a similar fact is not reported in a complete way. This behavior from the director is no longer acceptable. We ask for respect for all colleagues who intend to carry out their activities without bias. The assembly demonstrated that the space is full and is ready for any initiative that restores dignity to the public information service.”
The prosecutor of Naples Nicola Gratteri had thus commented on the psycho-aptitude tests for magistrates approved by the council of ministers: «If we want to do them for all the top sectors of the public administration I am in favor, but let’s also do them for those who have responsibilities for government and for public”. Adding: «We also do the narcotic test and the alcohol test, because someone who is under the influence of drugs not only has altered reasoning but can also be under blackmail. So, since we are here, we also do drug tests and alcohol tests.”
The president of Fnsi Vittorio di Trapani intervenes on the matter with a post on X. «Thanks to the Cdr of RaiNews who defends the dignity of a newspaper and therefore of the Rai Public Service. Full solidarity and closeness to the Cdr and the entire editorial staff”, he writes.
For Usigrai, «at Rainews we are now at the point of misinformation. It is not the first time – notes the Rai journalists’ union – that the current management has worked to hide news from viewers of Rai’s all-news channel. The Cdr’s press releases have long reported an omissive management of public service information by the management. However, even after the latest slip-ups, the Rai leaders not only don’t say anything, but they don’t lift a finger to stop this drift. One of two things: either they are inattentive, or they are conniving. The diligence of these leaders who write press releases to announce disciplinary proceedings for nothing has not found application for what is happening at Rainews, where editorial political control has reached unacceptable levels. We ask ourselves what else needs to happen before we intervene to put an end to this drift which is bad for information and for Rai”.
