The closure of the railway section between Gallarate and Besozzo for 4 hours a day has been extended until June. Started last January 8th, the initial deadline was scheduled for today, Wednesday March 29th.
The Cantieri di Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (lead company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Group) instead let it be known that they are continuing with the infrastructural strengthening intervention, a job to adapt the line to freight traffic linked to the Alptransit project.

From 2 April to 7 June 2024 it will be necessary to interrupt train circulation between the Gallarate and Besozzo stations from Monday to Friday for approximately 4 hours (from 9.14 to 13.14) and for the period 8-10 April only for approximately 5 hours (from 8.10 to 13.14). During the interruption theworks on the infrastructure and adaptation of the 750 meter module of the tracks for freight traffic in the Ternate station.

Please note that important works related to Alptransit are already underway in Laveno Mombello, an investment of ten million euros. TO Gallarate instead, the removal of the last level crossing in the city is planned in the future.
