Student Francesco Gatto attending the 5AE of the “Panella Vallauri” Technical Institute, he participated in the “Championship Italian U20 Free Wrestling Championships”, held in Ostia Lido, facing the first fight with a lot of determination and great concentration.

He won by “back throw”, managing to keep his opponent on the ground for four seconds. Unfortunately during the fight, he suffered an injury, consisting of a fracture of his left thumb, and for this reason he was unable to face the second fight to his full potential.

Despite this, the Fortitudo athlete was about to win this match too, when he suffered another injury to the nasal septum, caused by an involuntary head butt from his opponent.

Even though the bandage on his nose limited his breathing and his bandaged hand did not allow him to grip, the “gladiator” from Reggio Calabria continued to fight, until he had to give up, still finishing in seventh place out of the 28 participants in the championship Italian U20. The warmest congratulations go to the athlete from Reggio Calabria and his team.
