Sicily finishes the group in second place and qualifies for the quarter-finals of Women’s Regions Trophy 2024 of water polo reserved for Under 15 selections.
After the clear 13-1 victory over Sardinia, the island team had to lose 11-2 to Liguria and then redeem themselves 12-8 against Lombardy and beating Piedmont 11-2.
The victory over the Lombards who were competing with the Sicilians for second place was decisive. Julia Puleo with 7 goals was the best scorer of the match.
In the ranking of group A, the only one in the tournament with five teams, Liguria first with full points at 12 and Sicily second with 9 points, 38 goals scored and 22 conceded.
The quarter-finals will be on Friday 29 April
On Friday 29 April Sicily will play Tuscany who won group C overcoming competition from Veneto, Emilia Romagna and Campania. The match will start at 11.30. In case of victory, they will face the winner of the match between Marche and Emilia Romagna at 6.45pm.
