The teacher, originally from Torre del Greco, specialized in Sports Exercise Sciences, has been fighting the disease since 2007, until she was no longer able to work. So she chose to ask for a collegial visit, and a few days after her incapacity she was fired. Since October she has now decided to tell her story because in these months without a pension “I no longer knew how to carry on” so much so that she began to accumulate debts and moved to a hospice. So she turned to Cub who immediately followed the situation, preparing warnings to the INPS, to the school, Primo Levi of Turin, and to the Mef.
“I feel like I’m begging, yet it’s my rights. I also ask for them for all cancer patients who are unable to complete the INPS procedures”, he said two days ago.
Today the INPS phone call changed a lot. «I’m so happy, unfortunately I know that without the media coverage and the unions I wouldn’t have succeeded, even though it’s my right and that’s money I’m entitled to. But only in this way could I be able to make my voice heard, now I no longer have the strength to go to offices. However, I hope that my situation is also a warning to make people understand that they must not give up, that they must persist with the institutions even if it is a war.”
With the severance pay, the teacher anticipates, «I will pay off my debts but I know that with my pension I finally have the stability I was hoping for. I may decide to leave the Carignano Hospice and perhaps return home with a person who helps me. I don’t know yet, but I finally have the freedom to choose for myself and to organize my life, as much as possible.”
The campaign in defense of Anna Vitiello, comments Cosimo Scarinzi of the Cub Scuola Università Ricerca, «has achieved an initial important result. Anna called me as soon as she found out. It’s a victory for Anna, it’s a victory for Cub but it’s certainly the result of media attention for which I thank everyone”.
