Savona and Villa Zanelli luxury hotels. ‘Message’ from Toti ‘written’ by Lombezzi

Two sarcastic cartoons that aren’t exactly humorous. The ‘message’ of President Toti on the occasion of the solemn and well-attended inauguration of Villa Zanelli intended for luxury hotels and more.

Among other things, the Imperia councilor declared Marco Scajola: “…The centre-left administration, during the presidency Claudio Burlando, had carried out a terrible securitization operation of Villa Zanelli, abandoning it to a sad fate. Thanks to the determination and foresight of the administration Toti a historical and unique reality has been recovered…. ”

Today we are completing this complex intervention, with almost 7 million euros invested in over three years of painstaking work by restorers and highly qualified companies in synergy with the Superintendence. Today Villa Zanelli has come back to life, full of students and ready to be visited by all the people of Savona. In the next few hours we will begin to discuss with the municipal administration to identify its function, a model of use that is not unrealistic and does not exclude the people of Savona, the Ligurians and the many tourists who want to see it: it will have to be a lively place, of culture, of leisure and also employment in the hospitality and hotel sector”.

“We have had an extraordinary response from the people of Savona – declares the regional councilor for Urban Planning and Training Marco Scajola -. Entry requests have, by far, exceeded the number of places available, a sign of the enormous interest in Villa Zanelli. We are ready to organize new days to allow all those who wish to access and see the extraordinary work done. 6.6 million euros to recover a place of rare beauty, left abandoned for too many years and which can now become one of the most attractive points of the city. Together with the president Toti and at Arte Genova we strongly believed in this project from the beginning and we are extremely satisfied with the result achieved. The students were enthusiastic and certainly so will all the people from Savona who will participate in these three days”.

“Three very beautiful days begin – adds the mayor of Savona Marco Russo – in which the people of Savona, and not only them, will be able to appreciate this important place. This is the recovery – wanted by the Region which I thank – of an Art Nouveau jewel and also of a place of memory of the city which is part of a progressive redevelopment of the entire western part of Savona thanks to the redevelopment of Via Nizza, the creation of the promenade along the sea and, lastly, the unblocking of the construction site area Suleiman which, in addition to providing additional public spaces, will enhance the villa even more. As we know, the destination of this space was intended for a high-level accommodation facility, therefore for highly qualified experiential tourism, which is part of a project network for the relaunch, including tourism and culture, of the city sealed by the candidacy for Italian Capital of Culture of which Villa will be one of the qualifying points.”

25 MARCH 2024 – VILLA ZANELLI, COUNCILOR SCAJOLA RESPONDS TO COUNCILOR ARBOSCELLO ON THE REOPENING: “HISTORICAL RESULT ACHIEVED, HIS CONTROVERSY STERILE AND MISLEADING”

PRESS RELEASE – GENOA. “The Democratic Party, in particular councilor Arboscello, never misses an opportunity to make sterile controversies even on a historic day like this. Reopening Villa Zanelli after years of abandonment, with an investment of over 6.6 million euros, organizing a three-day open day with young students and citizens, is stigmatized in a misleading way and completely distant from reality with definitions such as “yet another commercial” , “appearances”, “catwalks”. Today was the sharing of a great result achieved, without any ribbon cutting, a result that none of the previous administrations had managed to achieve. Instead of dotting Liguria with dusty museums to be closed after a few months, we have tried to make Villa Zanelli, starting this morning, something alive and attractive, giving it a future as a high-quality tourist facility.” Thus the regional councilor for urban planning and construction Marco Scajolaregarding today’s reopening of Villa Zanelli and in response to the regional councilor of the Democratic Party.
“The counselor Sapling should remember that the centre-left administration, during the presidency Joking, had carried out a terrible securitization operation of Villa Zanelli, abandoning it to a sad fate – continues councilor Scajola – Thanks to the determination and foresight of the Toti administration, a historic and unique reality has been recovered. Rest assured: with the Municipality, with which we have an excellent institutional collaborative relationship, we will agree on all the steps to improve and make Villa Zanelli more and more alive which, if it had been up to the councilor and colleagues, would still be a pile of forgotten rubble”.
