Vicenza is preparing to welcome the Davis Cup, which from Friday 29th to Sunday 31st March can be admired in the Basilica Palladiana. In view of the trophy won by the Azzurri last November in Malaga staying in the city, the shops in Piazza dei Signori and the surrounding streets and squares have begun to adorn their themed windows. The initiative, promoted by the municipality’s sports department and Confcommercio, involved two young volunteers in the delivery of around a thousand tennis balls. The balls were donated by the regional committee of the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation.
The Davis Cup stops in Vicenza as part of the Davis Trophy Tour organized by the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation which is affecting many of the Italian regions. The so-called silver salad bowl will arrive in Vicenza this evening as part of an event organized by the Panathlon Club Vicenza. From 29 to 31 March it will then be exhibited in the Sala degli Zavatteri in the Basilica Palladiana, where it can be admired for free by entering during the monument’s opening hours (every day from 10am to 6pm with last entry at 5.30pm).
Furthermore, on Friday 29th a mini tennis court will be set up in Piazza dei Signori in front of the Palladian Basilica, where the little ones can try playing together with the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation masters.
From 1 to 3 April the Cup will be on display at the Tennis Comunali Vicenza. The Cup tour will be celebrated on 3 April at the Teatro Comunale di Vicenza in the evening “Davis Trophy Tour – Veneto tennis gala” where prominent figures from the world of tennis are expected and where the results obtained by the Veneto clubs will be rewarded.
