Thanks to the immediate reporting to 112 by the lady’s husband, the inter-force connection between the two regions began which led to the identification of the car in which the two women were travelling. The register implemented by the two scammers is always the same: after making telephone contact, pretending the involvement of the lady’s son in a road accident, they asked for a sum of money or, alternatively, jewels, to avoid imprisonment.
In fact, the lady first received a phone call to her home landline, by an imaginary Carabinieri Marshal who represented what happened and then also on the mobile number, by the alleged lawyer of the person injured in the road accident, who proposed compensation for the damage in the form of a sum of money or possible jewels.
They asked the lady 4,100 eurosbeyond precious for a weight corresponding to 350 grams.
