Maybe because they pour it into every activity they carry out in their daily lives; it may be due to the greatness of the feelings of which they are capable, or due to the impulse of profound humanity that distinguishes them, the fact is that – and it is science that establishes this – women’s hearts get sick more easily than men’s.

In fact, thanks to gender medicine, it has been established that, in the West, cardiovascular diseases represent the leading cause of death in women. In Europe, mortality from cardiovascular diseases (stroke and heart attack) has risen to 43% in women and 38% in men (source ANSA 2021)

In Italy the incidence is 38% in women and 32% in men (source Ministry of Health 2020).

For this reason, Soroptimist International Club of Novara, within the broader project “The city I would like – Reinventing the city fit for women” which intends to promote greater knowledge, awareness and attention also to women’s health problems, has decided to repeat for the third time, based on the interest found in the previous editions of 2019 and 2023, the event “YES prevention – SI re_talks about the heart”, an entire day dedicated to the hearts of women.

What is it about? The possibility of carrying out, free of charge, an initial screening (electrocardiogram, measurement of blood pressure, determination of cholesterol and blood sugar) by women who wish to join the initiative.

The services will be guaranteed by professional nursing staff while the ECGs will be examined and endorsed by cardiologists.

The initiative, which enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Novara, will be implemented thanks to the availability of the Novara Local Committee of the Italian Red Cross which on Saturday 13 April, in Piazza Puccini, will make two mobile clinics and a tensile structure available. The members of the Soroptimist Club Novara will be able to provide any necessary information.

Medical assessments will take place from 10.00 am to approximately 1.30 pm and from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm.
