Syracuse football remains in mix for 4-star WR Carl Jenkins Jr., who recently visited

Carl Jenkins Jr., a talented 2025 four-star wide receiver from Florida who visited Syracuse football earlier this month, has included the ‘Cuse among his six finalists.

His top six includes the Orange, Illinois, UCF, USF, fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Louisville and Mississippi State, according to a post on

Throughout his recruitment, the 6-foot-3, 180-pound Jenkins has hauled in around 30 scholarship offers, according to recruiting services. For a post on X from January 10 of this year, it was at that time Jenkins picked up a scholarship offer from the ‘Cuse staff.

He took a spring visit to the Hill during the weekend of April 13. Let’s see if Orange coaches can get him back to Central New York for an official visit at some point.

Beyond a traditional focus of New York, New Jersey, the Washington, DC, market and the rest of the Northeast corridor, head coach Fran Brown and his staff have made numerous other states a key recruiting priority, including Florida.

Two of the Orange’s verbal pledges in 2026, for one, hail from the Sunshine State. In other recruiting cycles, such as 2025, the ‘Cuse staff is targeting high school prospects who reside in Florida, including Jenkins and others.

A standout at St. Augustine High School in St. Augustine, Fla., Jenkins had a terrific junior season in which he caught 62 passes for 1,273 receiving yards, while scoring 16 touchdowns.

As far as 2025 rankings are concerned, Rivals.com places Jenkins as four stars, No. 60 at wide receiver and No. 67 in Florida.

When I wrote this article on Sunday, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite had him as three stars, No. 535 nationally, No. 85 at wide receiver and No. 78 in Florida.

While it’s encouraging that Syracuse football has made Jenkins’ top six, I’d be remiss if I didn’t note that the Orange does have several wide receivers among its verbal pledges to date in the 2025 class.

These ‘Cuse commits include three-star Darien Williams of the Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, three-star Terrell Wilfong of West Orange High School in West Orange, NJ, three-star wide receiver/cornerback Julian McFadden of La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, Pa., and wide receiver/tight end Daunte Bacheyie of the Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse.
