Energy, GSE alongside the City and the University of L’Aquila in the path towards the energy transition of the territory

Signed byCEO of the GSE, Vinicio Moses Vigilante, from the Mayor of L’Aquila, Pierluigi Biondi, and from Magnificent Rector of the University of L’Aquila, Edoardo Alesse a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at supporting the municipal administration in pursuing sustainability and decarbonisation objectives and in meeting the needs of the territory to generate virtuous reference models. Through the promotion of energy efficiency measures for public buildings, the diffusion of renewable sources as well as the development of Renewable Energy Communities (CER) and collective self-consumption groups for the sharing of energy and the valorisation of surfaces and municipal areas suitable for the installation of photovoltaic systems, the agreement has the aim of improving the liveability of the community, the state of the environment and the local economic balance.

Development activities for new technologies and new models are also envisaged, including: the production and use of hydrogen as an energy carrier and energy storage, sustainable mobility and the circular economy and the implementation of infrastructures for electric charging of vehicles.

“We want to encourage the realization at a territorial level of the objectives of the PNIEC and other national measures for the energy transition, including those included in the scope of the PNRR, exploiting the synergy between incentives and resources for public and private investments in the area – stated the CEO of the GSE Vinicius Moses Vigilantethe GSE is alongside L’Aquila, Italian Capital of Culture 2026, also to promote a culture of sustainability in the country that supports the development of territories in the environmental, social and economic fields”.

“The signing of the protocol will give us the possibility of having important technical support available to continue with greater incisiveness the path towards environmental sustainability, the use of renewable sources for production and the introduction of new energy vectors, already undertaken by our Administration with the financing of CERs, for example. A virtuous system that encourages cooperation between citizens, institutions and businesses from which L’Aquila and the entire territory of the internal areas of the central Apennines can benefit by increasing the quality of life and increasing local investments. Finally, the collaboration with the University represents an attractive element for young minds who would find unique conditions for training and growth in the new professions in the energy sector” they declared Mayor of L’Aquila, Pierluigi Bionditogether with theMunicipal Councilor for the Environment and Ecological Transition, Fabrizio Taranta.

The Protocol is effective from the date of its signature and will last three years.
