The training, information and prevention event foreseen by the “Guadagnare Salute” project promoted, at a national level, by the Italian League for the Fight against Tumors took place at the ISS “Carlo e Nello Rosselli” in Aprilia.
The Rosselli Institute of Aprilia is not new to the project, in fact, it was the second appointment, after last year’s, which saw the involvement of students, doctors, LILT volunteers, and also the participation of the ICOT Urology Unit Managers of Latina, Carbone and Fuschi. During the event, the latter carried out prevention visits to the students who requested them, subject to parental authorization, assisted by the volunteers of the LILT of Latina.
Thanks to the commitment of the Rosselli school health representative, Sabrina Vento, who strongly wanted to host the event again, and the participation of the team of doctors and professionals from the LILT of Latina and the Pontine ASL, this second appointment concerned not only the prevention of testicular cancer, but also other issues, such as healthy lifestyles and the fight against smoking. Fundamental in this sense is the intervention of Doctor Silvia Iacovacci, Head of “Active Prevention” of the Local Health Authority of Latina, who, in collaboration with the Institute, carries out the project of peer education according to which it is the students themselves, specially trained, who talk to their peers about correct lifestyles to combat the onset of diseases.
The interventions that followed one another throughout the morning also saw the participation of the oncologist Natali, the psychotherapists Cozzi and Capodilupo, the Health Director LILT Latina and Vice President of the Order of Salvatori Doctors, who explored the relationship between health and disease , insisting on the risks linked to poor lifestyles, even in the long term, and the importance of screening at a young age.
